Although Instacart delivers groceries, it provides an essential service for a lot of those who can’t afford to shop for necessities.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Instacart has helped some of our population’s most vulnerable, especially the elderly and the differently-abled.

Instacart brings groceries into your home but what about putting groceries into it? There are a few rules shoppers need to know about, and that’s about safety.
Does Instacart Bring Groceries Inside In 2022?
As a rule, shoppers will not be instructed to bring groceries inside a customer’s residence as of 2022. Their training instructs them to hand over the bags or boxed items to the customer at the threshold of their residence. They should feel free to leave the groceries at the door (if instructed to do so). They may judge for themselves if they should decide to leave the groceries at the door.

Does Instacart Leave Groceries At Your Door?
Shoppers are trained to hand over groceries at the customer’s door step and deliver them inside the house.
Even if you don’t live in the same apartment, you can still leave instructions for the delivery.

And in some places, shoppers might make that extra effort to help customers with more needs because even if others might benefit, they’ll benefit even more if customers are more comfortable.

Everyone has the ability to make a difference, and while Instacart shoppers are not trained law enforcement agents, they are empowered with the tools to make a real difference in someone’s life: their knowledge of the local community, their customer service skills, their ability to recognize danger, and more.
Will Instacart Go Up Stairs?
Amazon shoppers are told to pick up items from their destination address, and then deliver those items to a “third-party delivery location,” which usually means a customer’s front door.
I can attest to the fact that living up a flight of stairs will cause something to be delivered to your door.
The amount of money our parents saved because they did not have to pay the extra hour (of minimum wage) for housekeeping was worth a lot more than the money they made.
If you’re feeling guilty about how hard your shopper has to work to get you your delivery, you should tip the delivery person well.
Do You Have To Be At Home For An Instacart Delivery?
The delivery person will need to be flexible with their schedule and their delivery zone, since you don’t know when you will be home.
The workers who transport your groceries for you by Instacart are not there to drop them at your door, they are just an arm of the company. This means that the company is not liable for anything that happens to their packages.
If you cannot be home, it is 90 degrees out or you have milk in your order, consider switching to a delivery order.
It’s the easiest way to get your food, but it’s always more expensive than delivery, tips are not always needed and you don’t pay fees.
Do Instacart Groceries Come In Bags?
But in some cases, they will deliver in boxes and other non-bagged/non-packaged items.
I really hope that the new trash rules will make that a thing of the past.
I’m sure some people live in cities that have banned plastic bags. But I can understand why people would prefer to use plastic ones.
There will be a fee added to get paper bags or reusable bags, however, your shopper will hand the groceries over to you at the door.
If your shopper feels comfortable entering your residence, they may be willing to unload groceries on your kitchen counter.
And, of course, they are not required to come either.

Instacart shoppers are not obligated to deliver groceries inside of people’s homes, and in fact there is some evidence they would rather limit those interactions.
In the rare cases where shoppers are needed to bring their own groceries inside, the shops are usually crowded and the shops have limited space.
