Verizon Smart Family is a premium service that includes unlimited voice, text, and data on your smartphone, tablet, and laptop. You won’t pay extra for the plan, but you’ll pay for every smartphone, tablet, and laptop that uses the Internet on the Verizon network.

What Is Verizon Smart Family In 2022?

On Verizon Smart Family, texting is limited. Messages cannot be viewed using a phone number that uses a device other than Verizon Communications Inc.’s (NYSE:VZ) CDMA wireless network or a non-Verizon device. If you do not want to limit your message to one device, you can use an additional Verizon Wireless account for another device on your Verizon Wireless account.

This option will allow you to see the name of the person that your child has been communicating with, the time of the texts, and the frequency of texts with each person. However, the information shown are limited to the last 1 year of activity, and all the conversations of the child have to match the name of the person with whom the child has been communicating.

Does Verizon Smart Family Block WiFi?

However, it has its caveats. It doesn’t work in some cases. For example, if your child is watching something on Netflix, you can’t block the IP address which is associated with the Netflix account. Moreover, you can’t do it on any of your supported devices at the same time since it’s tied with a single account.

Is Verizon Smart Family Location Accurate?

If you install the Verizon Smart Family app on both devices, the app will automatically sync your child’s activity and your activity and will give you the most precise location possible.

It could have the wrong location by several miles, so it’s not going to be giving you an exact location a majority of the time.

Does Verizon Smart Family Show FaceTime Calls?

FaceTime calls don’t appear because Facebook’s video calls are encrypted and don’t use Verizon’s network. Instead, they use either data or WiFi.

You can’t block FaceTime through content filters. However, you can block FaceTime on individual devices and individual accounts.

The lack of information here is actually a feature. You’re not able to monitor the FaceTime calls, but you can see how you’re using your data and which Wi-Fi network you’re connected to.

How Much Does Verizon Smart Family Cost?

If you purchase a home phone from Verizon and you choose the Verizon Smart Family plan or the Verizon Smart Family premium plan, the price you’ll pay is different than if you purchase a smartphone and the Verizon Smart Family plan. If you purchase a smartphone and you choose the Verizon Smart Family plan, the price you’ll pay is different than if you purchase a home phone and the Verizon Smart Family plan.

Verizon Smart Family premium will be provided free to everyone if they have the Verizon Just Kids Plan.

Can My Child Turn off Verizon Smart Family?

If they turn off Verizon Smart Family it’s not possible that it would turn off just your phone, it would turn off both your phone and your husband’s phone.

Furthermore, if your child has an Android device, they cannot delete or uninstall the app, but they can remove it from their device if they know the code required.

If your kids remove the application from their iOS devices, they get a text notification that reads: “The application for your child was removed from the App Store.” It could take up to 48 hours to receive that notification.

How Do I Turn on Smart Family Companion?

Make sure you’re using Android 5.1 or higher, and confirm your phone hasn’t been rooted.

Set up your WiFi network
Download the Smart Family app into your child’s device.

The Smart Family app is compatible with iOS devices running iOS 10 and above only, Android devices running Android 4.4 and above only.

In iOS, the Smart Family app is available on the iTunes store. Visit the App Store to install and setup the Smart Family app.

How Do I Get Rid of Verizon Smart Family?

I recommend installing the latest version from the Google Play Store as that’s been more stable and works better than the one that comes with the latest firmware or your device.

Now, if you’ve opted to do a Smart Family you’ll need to change your plan to Smart Family Premium if you’d like to remove Smart Family.

* Remove all the apps that have been purchased from an unauthorized channel
* On the Apps page, tap the three dots in the top right corner and select ‘Uninstall from Device’
* You will be taken to the Apps and Games page and the Smart Family app will be removed from your device.

On the My Verizon website, select your device from the list of products that you are associated with.
