If you have kids and are thinking about getting them a cell phone, then you might be wondering if there are kids cell phones from Verizon available.
You’ll definitely want to know everything about Verizon’s kids plans and phone options. So keep reading to see what you can do to your kid’s phone to get the most out of your Verizon unlimited data plan.
Verizon Kids Phones & Plans In 2022
Verizon no longer offers the Just Kids Plan that allows you to set up to 20 contacts for your child and it comes with Smart Family Premium Edition for free. It also offers dumb phones, which are basic phones that talk and text, are perfect for children. You can learn more about the new Verizon Smart Family offerings at https://www.verizon.com/about/business/family/smart-family/.
There is no doubt that buying a phone for your kid is a very difficult task. It is not a simple task at all. You should spend time selecting the right phone for your kid and not just go with the first one that your child likes the most. You should take a look at different phones that are available. If you can find a phone that is affordable, and you are also sure that it will fit your kid’s needs well, your task will be made easier.
Does Verizon Offer a Kid-Friendly Phone?
A basic phone will be the best option for a kid-friendly phone, but it will not have all of the bells and whistles that regular smartphones have.
You can either spend $4 for 5,000 minutes or buy the phone for $79.99 including 20,000 minutes.
*Kazuna eTalk is available in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Costa Rica.
The Kyocera DuraXV Extreme is one of the better phones you can get for a young individual. It can be purchased for a reasonable price and it will be functional for a little while until they are old enough to get a full touch screen-capable device. It is also a good option for younger individuals, regardless of their gender.
Verizon’s cheap phones let you make both phone calls and text messages but aren’t really much more than a toy like the Google Play devices or Samsung’s entry-level phones.
The other option would be to get them a smartphone if they are nearing teenage years too, such as the Samsung Galaxy A50 that has lots of features to help your children become more responsible and tech savvy.
What Kid Smartwatches Work With Verizon?
The GizmoWatch 2 lets kids view their parents’ real time GPS locations, and also has a built in location tracker that will notify the parents if their kids get too far away from home.
It has a step tracker to help your child get into a healthier lifestyle early on and there is a to-do list to get your child to check off to get rewarded.
There is the ability to put up to 10 contacts into the phone so your child could contact those people if needed through text, calls, or even voice notes capabilities.
Another nice thing about this watch is that if you have a heart problem, it can monitor your heart rate and if it rises, it will send a message to your doctor.
Does Verizon Have a Child’s Plan?
Verizon now offers a “Keep the Kids on Family Share” plan, this is a special unlimited plan for people with kids. The other plans are family plans still, but the Keep the Kids on Family Share plan has a special pricing option to help pay for any unused data.
Free access to all of Disney Infinity (including characters that might normally be hidden), plus access to new content releases.
Since that plan is gone, you have to get the Verizon Smart Family Plan which helps protect your child while they’re on their phone.
What is Verizon Smart Family?
Verizon Smart Family allows parents to control what their children can access on their smartphones and tablets by allowing them to make restrictions on apps, apps and the overall internet browsing experience.
* restrict your child’s ability to post to social media
* prevent them from texting or emailing anyone without your consent
* limit the number of app installations they can have
* prevent them from visiting websites you don’t want them to see
* and more.
How Much Does Verizon Smart Family Cost?
Verizon will charge you $5 per month with the “Basic” feature pack and a whopping $10 per month for the “Premium” feature pack.
The just kids plan only covers the kids in this account. It does not cover any phone you have.
So, if your phone is just one of the cellphones you have, it will not be covered by that plan.
You can also pay for a Premium account by going into the settings in the app and choosing to upgrade to Premium.
What Are The Eligibility Requirements For Verizon Smart Family?
If you are thinking about getting a Verizon Smart Family, you will need to have at least 10 lines, and you still have to have a standard account.
To find out if your computer has higher than Android 5.0 installed or an iOS version of 10 or newer, go to your phone and open the Settings app. Then go to About and scroll down to build number. For other Apple devices, see your manual.
In addition, you also have the option of downloading the app for iPhone users, and then signing in with the app to check your eligibility.
Do You Need to Download the Verizon Smart Family Companion App?
The Verizon Smart Family Companion app is the best option since you’ll be able to have full control without having to manually send a message.
If you don’t download the Smart Family Companion app to your child’s device, you won’t be able to use certain things as the default, like setting up time restrictions.
You cannot set up location-based alerts or use the app to check-in locations unless you have app installed in your child’s device.
> You must turn location services on your own device before you use App.
However, you can still access your child’s network location to stop them using the app. You can also set a limit on the amount of data you’d like them to download and buy the phone without an internet connection.
Furthermore, for all of these activities, you’re able to see the text activity and call activity, and also set up the time/data restrictions for calling, texting, and using data.
