Verizon is a union shop, so the employees are members of the Communications Workers of America. Thus, they have a set schedule of 3 days of vacation annually, with one of those days coming from each month. However, it is important to note that this means that the first and last days of their vacation are set, and that their first day off of vacation is also their 3rd, 9th, etc. day off of work.

Verizon does allow you to take a bereavement leave in the event of your relative’s death. You do not need to tell them that the death is bereavement related.

Although they don’t cover pets, there are other ways for dog owners to make sure that their pets are in good care, and that means that you really need to make sure that you’re covered by a good insurance policy so that you can get the medical care that your dog needs if it gets injured or sick.

However, you should check with your supervisor and Human Resources Department to see if you can take some time off to deal with the loss of your pet.

In most cases, you’re on your own when it comes to your pet’s passing, but an employee of the company can also make sure they take reasonable steps for you in that event.

Can Verizon Fire You for Taking Bereavement Leave?

Verizon can’t fire you if you’ve filled out the paperwork and had it approved. However, it doesn’t apply to your vacation time so you have to continue to work and make sure you use all your hours.

You should make sure that you work at your scheduled work. If you need additional time off, you should go to Human Resources.

You can contact your supervisor to see if it is ok for you to take more time off, or if the Family Medical Leave Act covers you for this, because it is a serious medical situation.
