In that case, the device will pick up whichever global network is available. For example, if a device is GSM and it’s connected to GSM, then it will pick up GSM instead of CDMA or LTE, as long as the network is available.
How Do I Change My Preferred Network Type?
If you want to manually set the preferred network type for Verizon, follow the steps below:
1. Open the System Configuration.
2. Click on Mobile Network.
3. Select Preferred Network Type from the drop down list.
4. Click Apply Settings.
If you are on any mobile network outside of North America, your SIM card will be automatically selected for WCDMA networks which will work perfectly fine.
What’s the Best Network Type with Verizon?
You should continue using the LTE network type on Verizon since LTE offers the best coverage regardless of where you are in the United States.
In addition, 5G networks are not available everywhere yet, which means if you switch to the 5G Network type, you may lose your signal, have call drops, and run into other issues.
Do You Have to Change Your Preferred Network Type with Verizon When Traveling Internationally?
The phone should automatically detect your roaming carrier and switch automatically. That was a bug that was fixed last week. It should be fixed now.
