What Information Does Verizon Collect?
Verizon sells your phone usage data to a variety of third parties and uses it for advertising purposes.
We recently learned that Verizon sells your usage data to a variety of third parties. Does this affect your ability to trust or use their products and services?
Does Verizon Share My Information?
Because there are millions of customers sharing the same name as others on the Verizon network, it might be difficult to get through to the Verizon customer who really needs help.
Verizon lets customers decide on the kind of information they want to share, but doesn’t allow them to control the exact way in which their data is used.
Your email address will be used to communicate with you about the features you have chosen. The purpose of the communication is to share information regarding features that may benefit you.
Does Verizon Spy on Customers?
Verizon says it collects information on you so that it can offer you better products and services based on your interests, which I consider to be spying on customers.
If you don’t want your information collected, you’ll need to opt out of the new program that auto-enrolls subscribers in customer experience programs that allow Verizon to contact customers about their experience with the wireless service and the carrier.
You can also opt out at any time by calling customer service at 866-766-7616.
Verizon Custom Experience will collect information about your web use and apps on your device and use it to provide and improve web and app services.
Does Verizon Respect Privacy?
“The Verizon network is designed to operate and is continuously monitored to ensure that the service provided to our customers is reliable, the quality is at an acceptable level, and the safety of our customers is protected”.
“Customers, however, didn’t always automatically opt into the ‘custom experience’ program,” but Verizon said it was a mistake.
How Do I Opt-Out of the Verizon Custom Experience?
To opt out of the Verizon Custom Experience service, go to the My Verizon app and then select the gear icon.
To manage your phone, go to My Verizon, and then select the gear icon under Phone and Data.
– You’ll need to click on “Privacy” at the top of your browser window to get to this menu.
Then go to Control Panel > Chome Settings > Privacy > Personal Data > Delete Website Settings and clear the Chrome storage.
Can I Delete Verizon Custom Experience Data?
You can use the reset option in Verizon Custom Experience to erase your data that is stored on Verizon, this data being your call and text history, as well as other Verizon data.
Information you have deleted from your phone remains on your phone, but data deleted from your Verizon cloud account does go away.
You can also reset your account by deleting it using your mobile phone. This is the same process as described above, but now that you would use the “Delete Account” button to remove your account from your phone.
If you do not select any of these options, Verizon will collect non-Personally Identifiable information about which ads you see on the web and apps, as well as how long you spend with a particular ad.
If you went to the My Verizon website and selected “Privacy Preferences,” you can change the privacy options.
For example, the Privacy Choices allows you to choose whether you want to receive the updates for Apple services, and what your information will be used for.
How Long Does Verizon Keep My Information?
Verizon keeps your information on file until you no longer have a relationship with the company and then they retain all of your information including personal email addresses and telephone numbers.
Therefore, you should understand that Verizon will NOT stop collecting your information even after you have cancelled your account. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at 1.888.211.VZW (1.888.211.6636) for more information.
Although Verizon doesn’t state how long your information is retained, but it does state that it will be retained until those purposes are no longer required or needed.
We hope you find the post informative and if you do, kindly share it to your friends so that they can also become our subscriber.
The problem is that you have no control over this data collection and sharing. If you don’t want to share all of your personal information with Verizon, then you need to switch to a free wireless carrier, such as Ting.
