Can You Buy A Walgreens Franchise?
Walgreens sells franchises to companies like Walgreens, not individual pharmacists or store owners.
It is a chain of drugstores with over 9000 stores all over the country, and all of these are corporate-owned, i.e., Walgreens owns and runs all of these themselves.
The law also prohibits owning a franchise from owning a pharmacy, just as it prohibits owning a franchise from owning a gas station, as it forbids a franchise from owning a gas station that owns a fast food restaurant, and as it forbids a grocery store from owning a discount department store, etc.
If you don’t own a store and aren’t a pharmacist, you probably don’t want to apply.
The pharmacist must also be responsible for the training and supervision of other pharmacist trainees.
However, there are laws that restrict Walgreens from opening any new store for the next five years because the store is leased.
Why Can’t You Buy A Walgreens Franchise?
There was no separate ownership because all the stores were owned by Walgreens. This was a business model that the company used to minimize risks. Another way to say this is, the Walgreens franchisees were all part of a Walgreens corporate body, called the Walgreens Corporate Retail Operations.
Most of the company’s 9,000+ stores are owned by shareholders of the company.
The pharmacy department is being de-emphasized because the company knows the Walgreens chain stores cannot be operated like pharmacies.
Business model is just a thing which takes lots of money away from the actual owners, to benefit the corporation, not the individual. There are other ways to make money, like selling books, or selling tickets to see your movie, or even just selling ice cream. All of these ways don’t involve giving out franchise rights.
Does Walgreens Acquire Franchises?
Pharmacy Acquisition is a good business model for Walgreens. Pharmacy Acquisition program in the company is successful. Pharmacy Acquisition program, of course, also has a higher risk.
In the negotiation phase of the sale, the team at The Pharmacy, working with the owners of the store, works with a new owner to reach an acceptable sales price.
Walgreens has acquired more than 1000 pharmacies in the US, including many in the New York City metropolitan area. They have also acquired a majority stake in Walgreens Australia and several European and global operations.
Can You Buy a CVS or Rite Aid Franchise?
Walgreens may have a few franchise locations, but all Walgreens locations are operated by independent contractors.
But, CVS and Rite Aid are also owned by a company called The Walgreen Co., so they also can’t give out franchises to the same people that Walgreen’s give out.
I also mentioned here that Dollar General was only an online-only store at the time, and that it has expanded into brick-and-mortar stores.

Walgreens is an independent business as there are no shares that are owned by anyone other than Walgreens.
In other words, Wal-Mart is a very large company and they have the power to choose where they will set up stores. They have decided that there is no need to set up a store in Mexico City or in the capital of another country, so they have chosen to set up their first stores in Mexico in Cancun, where they can benefit from the high demand for their products and the Mexican people’s good relationship with the company.
