Chewy relies on a big workforce because lately, the company has been witnessing significant growth after a couple of years.
So, if you’ve been convicted of a crime and are thinking about working there, we investigated the legal details. We’re finding a significant number of applicants in the position have had a conviction on their record.
Does Chewy Hire Felons In 2022?
If you’re applying for a retail job, you won’t have access to the names of the people who did the background check. It is unknown if Chewy offers the contact information of the ones who did the check or if Chewy has a specific list online, but you can inquire with the person who’s hiring you.

Is Chewy Felon Friendly?
We’ve also learned that the company has tried to fight back against lawsuits by saying that it considers itself to be a “victim”.
We have not been able to find a specific answer to how likely it is an applicant from a country that has not had a conviction on their record is hired. They will have more opportunities to disclose. But as far as the number of hiring decisions that have to be made, I don’t have a specific number. My best guess is that the hiring process takes 2 weeks or more. So that would be about 20-30 reviews.

Someone says that their dad was a felon and they worked at Chewy, and another says that the fact that the dad was a felon doesn’t matter, they can get a job even if their dad was a felon.
One person tells us that they applied for a job at Chewy, and got as far as completing their application. From there, the job was filled and they never heard anything.
“I was really direct in telling her that I was on parole for several years for a gun charge and that I thought that would pose a problem” according to the affidavit.
Although the job applications were rejected for other reasons, the background check revealed that they were convicted of felonies.
We found a previous applicant who was disqualified because of a felony. The applicant was notified via email from the company to come back and meet with Chewy; they were unable to do this and then called back to find out why. When they called back, they were informed that they were being disqualified because of their felony conviction.

A Chewy applicant from Louisville says that felons will probably be hired, but that it is likely you will be subjected to a hostile work environment from your leads.
There are some reports that say you can get hired at Chewy with a felony if it’s old enough because most background checks only go back about 7 years. Another way to do a background check is to use a 3rd party, like Chewy’s.
Some states, including Arizona, allow employers to look back further.
This came up after people complained about Chewy hiring a felon who had just been convicted. Chewy responded by saying that they do care and that they follow the law.
This person was hired at Chewy with a felony that stemmed from assaulting a law enforcement officer. Unfortunately, that fact came out. But Chewy was able to show that the individual would not cause harm or be a threat to customers, customers or employees.
Can You Work at Chewy with a Misdemeanor?
With Chewy, you can find jobs where the criminal record doesn’t matter at all, or where it doesn’t matter much, but you need to know that and be prepared for that.
Even if you are totally safe and have no record of the crime ever having happened, it’s unlikely that your employer will let you work with a commercial vehicle.

After the interview if you apply for a job and you have a chewy account, it will show you what others have said about you.
The background check for your application for a job at Chewy will last 90 days on average, so you may have to deal with a background check in the near future. If your background check happens to show a criminal history violation, you will likely have to submit a new application.
How Can I Prepare for an Interview at Chewy with a Felony?
If you have a felony on your record, you need to make sure you are prepared because felonies are treated differently across the company.
One of the best things you can do is smile and shake the hand of the man or woman you are talking to.
It is not compulsory to wear suits to an interview, but it’s always best, if you want to increase your opportunities of getting the job.
If you know people who can write you references when you are not rehabilitated you could ask them to help you out.
If you have a good parole officer, he can help you go to school.
The conviction will show up in a background check if they’re less than 7 years old. Avoid hiding this information, especially if it’s a misdemeanor offense.
