While sales dropped, most locations in a chain, excepting the big national chains like Barnes & Noble and Borders, usually closed during the 2000s and early 2010s. Even still, Barnes & Nobles is the only retailer to survive, and it is the only big national chain now. Many small business closed their doors for good in the 2000s and early 2010s.
