How Many Stamps Do I Need for a Standard-Size Letter?

The USPS considers a standard letter to be between 5.5 x 4.5 inches and 11.8 x 8.3 inches.

There is no specific width limit for a letter. Most letters are 5″ tall by 8″ wide, but the width of some letters is between 4″ and 7″.

In addition, with the exception of USPS First Class Mail, all other USPS mailing services are available to U.S. military and government personnel serving overseas, including mail delivered at APO/FPO/DPO addresses outside the continental United States. Additionally, First Class Mail can be sent to military personnel serving abroad from the continental United States.

Global forever stamps are available at any post office.

Canadian Forever Stamps will always have the same value as their domestic Forever Stamp equivalents, based on the current exchange rate. Domestic Forever Stamps will be more valuable if the Canadian rate goes up than down.

For instance, if you have enough domestic Forever Stamps and/or extra cent stamps, you can cover up to $5.00 US in postage.

United States Postal Service charged $1,300.00 for a first-class letter you sent to Mexico.

The United States government no longer charges a “special handling” fee for a first-class letter. However, if there is damage to the envelope, special handling fees that are the same as a first-class letter may still be charged.
