The growing popularity of food delivery services is evidenced by the fact that many of them have started selling alcohol to their customers.
The food delivery app Uber has long been rumored of delivering alcoholic beverages. Some users of the app had shared that they had received alcohol deliveries from the service, although this has not yet been confirmed. Some users in Sweden even reported that the deliverymen had shown up at their place and then ordered alcohol. After receiving the delivery, the users were then asked to pay.
Does Uber Eats Deliver Alcohol In 2022?
When you order via Uber Eats, the company may deliver alcohol to your home. You’ll have to be the legal drinking age to do this. If that person delivers alcohol, the person must be at least 21 years old and be trained to drive safely while under the influence, according to the Colorado DMV.

When Did Uber Eats Start Delivering Alcohol?
In a few specific suburbs in London, people could order alcoholic drinks with food and they’d be delivered by Uber to their door.
The delivery driver would have to be a registered person
The delivery must only happen in daylight hours
The delivery must only happen within 500m of a licensed business
This restriction was removed in November 2011.
For example, the law required that you be at least 18 years old and that your order be for no more than 2 drinks per hour and no more than 5 drinks in a single day.
But there were also other restrictions in the US that came into effect, most notably, the ban of any import from the USSR.
Further, UberEats started delivering alcohol in the US in 2019, on a small scale, and will expand the program soon.
Uber acquired Drizly, an alcohol delivery service, for $1 billion in 2021. This network allowed Uber to expand its reach.

When Won’t Uber Eats Deliver Alcohol?
If you’re a passenger or a driver, you need to either remove alcohol from your Uber Eats account or be banned permanently.
You should assume that certain locations are off-limits. One location seems to be the overlap as DoorDash and Uber Eats both prohibit drinking with rides.
Will Uber Eats ID Me For Alcohol?
You need to drink before you eat so Uber Eats knows what you like.
Uber will use alcohol drivers to make sure people have a photo ID, however, no one has to have to have a photo ID to be a driver.
With alcohol delivery from Uber Eats, drivers need to have a government ID with a birthdate and picture on it to be able to do deliveries.
Moreover, if you don’t have an ID that hasn’t been expired before, you can show the restaurant or store employees and they will make a note on it. The note will be there until the time the restaurant or store can be sure that you do not violate the law again.
Additionally, non-government-issued IDs like library cards can be used, but only to supplement the information on the primary one if needed.
This is obviously not perfect.
For example you can get in trouble if you are carrying a fake or forged ID.
You hand over your ID to the driver of the taxi. The driver will have to scan your ID or enter the details manually into the app.
This could make it tricky if the driver’s ID is in a different language than the person’s ID. People in the U.S. are able to use their driver’s licenses to prove their identity, but the driver might not have that benefit.
How Do I Turn Off Alcohol Delivery On Uber Eats?
This happens when you get messages about an alcohol delivery request being made to your driver, and you’ve opted-in to see them in your app.
To be clear, the driver delivering the alcohol must be at least the legal drinking age of that country.
This means if you don’t sign up to receive the emails, you won’t get the emails, and that’s not a good user experience.

If you’re under the legal drinking age where you live, you can order alcohol to be delivered to your home via Uber Eats.
Uber Eats will identify you for alcohol, and you’ll have to provide a driver’s license with your photo and your date of birth.
Although Eats drivers won’t deliver alcohol, if you’re already intoxicated the app will still let you order alcohol.
