A group of FedEx workers have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company claiming that FedEx is misclassifying workers as independent contractors.
It is important to know that FedEx has an annual leave policy in place, which includes the number of sick days a person can use.
As mentioned above, FedEx has a policy of no sick leave. In other words, employees do not get sick days. They do, however, get “personal” leave in place of sick days. If a FedEx employee is absent for three consecutive days they are deemed to have exhausted their personal leave.

You can take as long as 12 weeks of unpaid leave for personal or family medical need. This leave may be taken from any work location.

Employees who work their first month of employment on the job are entitled to a paid time off allowance.
* On the first day of the month, you will earn one hour of PTO for calendar year.

* On the first day of each month, you will earn one hour of PTO for the second twelve months.
It’s up to the employer to decide whether they’ll pay for sick days as well as vacation time.
If an employee does not have a vacation planned, they would be able to save their PTO for unpaid sick days.
What Is the FedEx Freight Sick Day Policy?
In the first half of 2016, the company’s workers in a warehouse in Memphis, Tennessee received 0 sick days, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This leads us to believe that the number of sick days depends on the location and the amount of time an employee has worked for the company, while the amount of time an employee has worked for the company depends on the location.
The employee mentioned the number was quite high at 5 sick days per year. Taking that many days of leave would impact their attendance record.
A guy who works at this company said he gets 6 sick days a year.
Can FedEx Fire You for Being Sick?
Most employees will not be fired even if they show up to work sick. An employee will be fired if they do not have a doctor’s note for their illness.
This issue of sick pay comes up because of the nature of the job. FedEx is a big company and needs to be staffed 24/7, so the last thing they want is to fire a sick employee. But if someone is coming in sick and not coming back, then they might not get paid until they have accrued enough time.
How Do You Call Out Sick at FedEx?
If you need to call out sick when you work for FedEx, you can call your location and ask if your manager (or the manager on duty if yours is unavailable) is available to talk to you.
