If you have a hard time hearing some of the details, Xfinity is one of the largest TV providers in the country. You might not know much about it, but it’s owned by Verizon Communications.
We’ll be answering a lot of questions about Verizon and Xfinity below! You can use the list below to find out the correct answers to any of the questions you would like to know.
Does Verizon Own Xfinity In 2022?
Verizon is a wireless telecommunications service provider that uses the term to refer to its family of brands, which includes wireless internet service, long-term evolution (LTE) wireless internet, telephone and text messaging, and home security. In the U.S., most Verizon branded services are offered by its subsidiaries and other affiliated companies, including subsidiaries that offer services under the AT&T, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular brands.

Who Is Xfinity Owned By?
What Companies Does Comcast Own?
Comcast owns NBC Universal, and has since 2012, and has also purchased: DreamWorks Animation, Sky, British Sky Broadcasting Group, and Universal Parks and Resorts.
Is Xfinity Mobile Owned by Verizon?
Xfinity Mobile will be using Verizon’s 4G LTE network, since it’s where the majority of users have access to the best coverage and reliability.
If you want to get the Xfinity Mobile service, you will need a Comcast subscription. You will also need to maintain that subscription to continue with Xfinity Mobile.
One difference with Xfinity Mobile is that you’ll be able to automatically connect to a Comcast Wi-Fi hotspot if you’re within reach. Because Comcast only operates in the United States, this will not be an option for you if you’re outside of the United States.
How Are Xfinity Mobile and Verizon Similar?
The similarities are huge, and the differences in the Verizon network is what makes the Xfinity Mobile service.
As said before, both Verizon and Xfinity Mobile offer cell phone plans and internet services, which also make them similar to one another, and the prices of both are comparable.
We’ve been hearing a lot about telecom merger in the past couple years. And, we know that the telecommunications industry is growing.
How Are Xfinity Mobile and Verizon Different?
The first one is the unlimited data, the other one is the unlimited talk/text, the third one is the unlimited talk/text but you can only get it in certain areas and the fourth one is the unlimited talk/text/data which you can get in almost all of the US.
In addition to that, Xfinity Mobile is going to make use of Comcast’s Wi-Fi hotspots as much as possible, as well as not affect your data cap.
So when Verizon starts selling 5G in the US with the new Xfinity 5G network, it’s more like the mobile network, whereas Xfinity 5G is more like the internet (I hope). It’s also not that expensive if you use it in a lot of places and Verizon is more like Google WiFi, whereas Xfinity is more like the mobile provider – and much cheaper.
Also, Verizon offers a lot of perks and benefits with its wireless service and plans, such as Disney+, free trials or subscriptions, along with Apple Music, Hulu, YouTube TV, and more.
Comcast is an MVNO. It doesn’t own its own network so it relies on Verizon’s network.
MVNOs can’t do anything to compete with services like Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+ as companies like Verizon can’t force their customers to subscribe to their services.
Should Verizon Buy Xfinity?
Verizon would be able to own a major wireless carrier, while Comcast would be buying a cable company that would provide internet and TV services to subscribers.
Customers using Comcast’s Xfinity internet services could get a modem/router and use the Xfinity Mobile hotspot as a device for tethering.
There are already some MVNOs (like T-Mobile’s MetroPCS and Cricket Wireless’ Boost) that serve as MVNOs for other carriers. Comcast could partner with one of them to provide that service, or they could use their existing MVNO to get the wireless coverage the rest of the country is used to.
Will Verizon Purchase Xfinity?
Although we don’t think that Verizon will acquire Comcast’s Xfinity business, there is a growing sentiment that it would be the logical move, given that Verizon has recently taken over rival U.S. broadband giant CenturyLink.
While the first few reports of the situation mentioned a possible deal at $50 million, most other coverage has now moved in to a range from 20 to 40 million dollars, with the most recent saying “over $30 million”.
Since we do not know what the future holds in wireless, it is easy to see how they would take over Xfinity Mobile when they purchase Tracfone.
If Verizon has decided to buy US Cellular, the answer is yes. You can see the answer at our page on whether or not Verizon owns US Cellular, if Verizon owns Tracfone, and if Verizon owns Visible.
Conclusion
When you put it all together, you have a company that makes a billion dollars off your internet service every year (thanks to their television, sports, and video streaming services) and then make another billion dollars off of their cable television.
The reason why they’re able to do this is because the Federal Government has made it “legal” for them to do this.
The idea of an MVNO is that they use the infrastructure and the network of a big service provider (like Verizon) and lease the capacity from the service provider. But since the MVNO uses its own network, they are not bound by service agreements between the two companies and therefore usually cost less.
