Amazon has over 200 million Prime members worldwide, and over 175 million of those users have chosen to use its Prime Video streaming services.
There are so many ways to fix Amazon Prime buffering on your Amazon Fire TV Stick. For example, you can turn it off using the Amazon Prime Video website.
To solve this problem you’ll need to make sure that you have the correct Amazon Prime Video app downloaded on your smartphone. I found that I had to uninstall the version that I had downloaded from my smartphone in order to get the Amazon Prime Video app working correctly.
How To Fix Amazon Prime Buffering, Skipping, and Freezing?
If you’re having trouble with Amazon Prime buffering, skipping, or freezing, it’s usually due to low-speed internet, outdated apps, or bad connectivity. There are different options, including resetting your network connection, using an ethernet cable, checking your streaming and download quality.
You can also go to Amazon.com’s customer service page and ask them if they have the same issue. They might be able to give you a different answer or solve the problem for you.
1. Check Internet Speed
You can also check your connection speed. Sometimes slow internet is caused by the network itself. You can use an internet speed test to check the speed of your internet connection and see if you need to fix it.
You can do a speed test directly from your computer. If you are connected to the internet with your computer, you can check the internet speed.
Sluggish internet will probably require buffering, and you might want to connect to a faster hotspot or improve your internet package if you want to stream Prime often.
On an average US connection, I have no problems with Amazon, Netflix, or Hulu, and streaming is not a problem for me. Netflix and Hulu are recommended at 1.5mb/s.
I’m not sure about Amazon’s recommendations, but I doubt it’s actually that high. At 1.5mb/s, the video can be buffer-y, and it’s really a problem.
It’s easy to tell which videos will look best on the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, because they are already optimized for the display and you can watch them on the Kindle Fire HDX without the need for any additional codecs or software.
2. Update The Amazon Video App
When Amazon Prime Video is not working on the app, you may need to download the latest version.
Remember that Amazon updates its apps and technology frequently, so it is wise to keep your eyes peeled for available updates.
If you notice that the video app is buffering very slowly or is freezing during streaming, it is due to lack of storage space. Therefore, use the App Cleaner to free up some space.
3. Clear Internet Cache
Temporary internet data and the Amazon Prime cache are not related to steaming.
You may need to clear your browser cache (temporary Internet files) to make sure you’re not trying to stream a recording that already exists.
The cache is clearing itself after a while, the streaming quality improves and buffering is reduced.
If you still can’t resolve the issue, you can always try opening the “Settings” application or looking at your device’s Help menu to find other options that will let you connect.
4. Adjust Your Streaming Quality
Some of the high-quality streaming preferences can cause buffering and freezing. If you’re watching something that’s streaming at 1080p you can lower the quality a little bit without completely compromising streaming.
There’s a way to fix this directly in the app but this will also help if you’re watching the videos at a lower screen resolution. The default resolution can cause a lot of jitter and pixelated video.
If you have a Prime Video subscription you can use a VPN to get around any geo-restriction that is imposed by the video streaming providers.
Well if you’re using Windows on a gaming system, then it’s probably going to be best to keep the video as high a resolution as your computer is capable of handling. On a budget gaming PC with a lower spec video card, I’d stick with 720p, but if you’ve got a gaming desktop with a powerful video card I’d go for full-HD 1080p.
5. Contact Amazon Prime Video Support
You should be able to watch Prime Video from your streaming device and experience an excellent streaming experience.
If the buffering and skipping happens only on Prime Video, then there may be a problem with the way the system delivers the video.
If you are seeing some error message like “You need to be connected to the Internet to watch this content”, you should try to check if the internet connection is correct or not. If you are able to view videos without the internet, this issue may not be caused by Prime.
There will be a new version of your device and software that will help you to transfer information and files and use more apps and features.
Don’t worry, the files and information you keep on your device will be protected from this new update.
You just need to update your device and the files and information you keep on your device will be protected from this new update.
Although the new streaming service has many great things about it, such as free trial movies, a vast library of shows and movies, and the fact that it’s an Amazon product, sometimes movies and shows can get too big and get stuck, skipping, or buffering on a connection.
In order your device to get rid of buffering on Amazon Prime, you should try reconnecting your internet, updating the Amazon Video app to be the latest version, and clearing the internet cache.
For most users these quick fixes solve Amazon stream problems, however, if something goes wrong and you continue to experience issues, contact Amazon support through your account.
