The Washington Bureau will be covering the National Housing Summit by the Housing Urban Development Department, The New America Foundation’s forum on “What Comes Next? The Economic and Budgetary Consequences of the Financial Bailout”, the Heritage Foundation’s address on “US Success in Iraq”, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s roundtable discussion on ways to modernize its disclosure system to give investors more useful and timely information for investment decision-making, The Energy Department and the Commerce Department 2008 Nuclear Energy Summit, a pen and pad briefing on the Senate elections by Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), and the Supreme Court case Winter v. Natural Resources.

The Washington Bureau will also be covering a National Press Club briefing on “current economic conditions, recent government actions, and positions of major-party presidential nominees”.

Chief Pentagon Correspondent, Meredith Mackenzie, will attend a briefing on Iraq and the Secretary of Defense.

Our Washington Bureau is covering “The American Society of Newspaper Editors and the Newspaper Association of America” where presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama will be present to give a speech. We will also be covering one of the events at the “2008 National Legislative Conference” of The Building and Construction Trades Department, where House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md) will be present.
The “2008 Annual Legislative Conference” of the Council of Chief State School Officers is being covered also.

This morning the Washington Bureau will be covering an event held by Darfur Action Now, which includes a “die-in” and a mock refugee camp. They will be doing video coverage, along with photos and interviews.

Also, this morning, the Bureau will cover a discussion on “Financial Costs of the War in Iraq.”

This afternoon, they will cover the Democratic congressional candidates holding a telephone news briefing to announce a policy paper, “A Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq,” and covering a discussion with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich discussing Sen. Barack Obama’s call for “change.”
