Nancy Pelosi had a full plate of isssues to deal with on her first day back from the congressional recess. The playground was looking a lot better then being back in session for the busy House Speaker.

The Speaker met with various House committee chairs Tuesday evening.

Pelosi said that after meeting with her constituents for the past month, she brought back many ideas as to what healthcare reform should look like.

According to Pelosi, “Republicans and the opposition…had the opportunity to put forth their best proposal and [instead] they put forth distortion, misrepresentation and obstruction. We haven’t heard any constructive ideas coming from them. We still invite them and hope they bring back some of the thinking of their constituents as well.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Pelosi met with President Barack Obama yesterday about Obama’s highly anticipated address to a joint session of Congress. “I believe that a public option will be essential to our passing a bill in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi told reporters.

The President’s speech on Wednesday evening is expected to revolve around his desire for healthcare reform.
