Speaker Nancy Pelosi discussed the new budget and the importance of heath care

Speaker Pelosi held a press briefing today about the new budget
proposal and and the next steps for Congress. Pelosi discussed the new
budget as a blue print and a statement of national values. She
emphasized the importance of investing in health care to build a
stable future for America. Investing in health care and making it more
affordable for the citizens will save money for America in a long term
perspective. To spend $635 billion is an action in the right
direction. Pelosi stated that Congress first
priority should be to implement a health care reform.

Pelosi also discussed the criticism that Republicans has towards the
new investment act. She stated that the Republicans should be the last
people to talk about fiscal policy, since the Bush administration
inherited a $5.6 trillion budget and reversed it.

Unemployment was also an issue that Pelosi spoke about and her
solution to this increasing problem was described as implementing the
reinvestment act as soon as possible. She stressed the importance of
Congress working closely with the administration to create a
efficient budget.

Pelosi also spoke about the Bankruptcy Housing Bill and the need to
have a general debate about it, before voting.
