Senator Casey, Obama campaign critical of John McCain’s economic plan

Senator Bob Casey, Jr. (D-Pa.) railed against Senator John McCain’s economic plan in a conference call hosted by the Obama campaign, saying that the plan doesn’t include relief for 101 million middle class families.

This proposal is the “same Bush strategy on the economy,” said Casey “it’s trickle down, it’s ideological, it won’t strengthen the middle class.”

Casey compared the McCain plan to the Obama plan, saying that Obama has focused on the middle class since the start of his campaign. Obama would jump start job creation by cutting taxes for small businesses, and would provide immediate relief to families by allowing them to withdraw $10,000 from their retirement funds without penalty.

“Senator McCain has been offering more of the same tax cuts…in fact even more [tax cuts] than George Bush has been offering, and the same ideological approach to the economy that I think Americans know got us into the ditch we’re in economically,” said Casey.
