The true magic is in the story of how one citizen, local city government and the media all worked together to inform, entertain and inspire the public to appreciate and value what is perhaps the greatest asset of their freedom – voting. In some way, everyone made history with the summer-long Freedom Is Not An Illusion – Vote! – public service campaign, as well as, the wrap-up event at the Zoo featuring a “political tradeshow” area for attendees to gather information and “study” for their vote. Attendees could also register to vote. Ellen , Ken and Evan (Rousseau of WBSM) offered a stimulating town hall style meeting and talk show replete with political incumbents and candidates and entertainment by Dan Clark, the youth group Showstoppers; the New Bedford High School music program performers and the recognition of our local veterans. Of course, the history making illusion – topped off the evening. She’s not done yet – Ms. Dillies will reveal her notarized and sealed presidential prediction which has been locked in a 2008 Mustang on display at the Buttonwood Park Zoo since late August. Gov. Palin was clearly prepared by sticking to her script and not answering direct questions. It will make her and Senator McCain’s base happy but I think that it will not move the middle. Most Americans are wise to avoiding answers. Senator Biden was smart, cool, very human and direct.
Call me an elitist but her use of folksy English drove me crazy. I think a potential Vice President should be a model with their speech.

Ellen Meet the middle class………..maybe you’ve been in DC to long!
You need to get out once in awhile and meet real people. You asked for it…………you elitist!
