Chief UN Correspondent Dan Patterson will be attending briefings at the United Nations this afternoon, as well as following up on a local Brooklyn shooting.

The Washington Bureau will continue coverage on the floor of the House of Representatives, where Republican members continue to give speeches in spite of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) call for a five week recess. The Bureau will also attend both a morning and afternoon press conference held by those choosing to stay in the House.

In the afternoon, the Bureau will cover a conference call with Father Roy Bourgeois, founder of the School of Americas Watch, Purple Heart recipient, and torture survivor, and Joshua Casteel, a former U.S. military interrogator who served at the Abu Ghraib prison camp to discuss Sen John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) view on torture. Later on, the Washington Bureau will attend a discussion on President Bush’s recent visit to China in light on the upcoming Beijing Olympics.
