Today in the Washington Bureau, Meredith MacKenzie will be attending a security briefing at the Pentagon. The American Academy of Actuaries will hold an event in which raising the national retirement age to secure Social Security’s long-term financial soundness will be discussed. A discussion entitled “How Military Win Wars” with participants from the US Holocaust Museum and the US Army War College will be covered at the Heritage Foundation.

An Obama campaign conference call on a new voter registration effort targeting African Americans will be covered, as will a discussion on US-China space cooperation at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Also, the challenges to the next presidential administration, an address by Miami mayor Manuel Diaz will be reported. Staff will also cover a conference call explaining benefits of new housing stimulus legislation.
