SWAT Team at a Protest

Just a few blocks away from the opening night speeches of the Democratic National Convention, SWAT teams surrounded a group of protesters. A variety of organizations had gathered to voice their opinions between Tremont Plaza and Clemont Place on 15th street in Denver, Colorado. After a small riot broke out, several protesters were pepper sprayed and many others were taken into custody. The bystanders gathered nearby seemed to have mixed reactions. Four members of Code Pink were chanting, “The whole world is watching,” while other onlookers thought retaining the protesters was absolutely necessary for public safety.
