Sen. Conrad says “Gang of 10” making a dramatic statement

Staff

Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) talks about the New Era Bill that has been created by the “Gang of 10” in an effort to reduce gas prices, lessen the nation’s dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen America’s economy. Conrad says that the group has 84 billion dollars ready to move the nation from a dependency on oil to alternatives. He says that the bill has a goal of having 85 percent of America’s cars and trucks transitioned to alternative fuels - a dramatic statement according to Conrad. (1:18)

One Response to “Sen. Conrad says “Gang of 10” making a dramatic statement”

  1. Jeremy Neill Says:

    Sir:
After the total fraud by oil companies (including the war in Iraq) for anyone to propose handing them more of their crack-like substance is insane. Record profits for oil companies equals record economic devastation to the rest of the country. And you propose giving them more. Sir, we need to do an intervention, not fuel their insanity. After republicans handing you your ass on previous bills (including drilling on existing land before new contracts, curbing excess speculation, etc.) why in the world would you just hand them what they want anyway!? Are republicans truly just smarter? And how dare anyone propose giving anything to big oil after everything else? This is no longer about oil, it is about power. They have monopolized it and 4000 soldiers, perhaps a million Iraqis are dead, and you propose rewarding them? And if speculation is not controlled, what good would more oil do if speculation will just compensate for any would-be changes anyway? Senator, please tell me you are smarter than this…
