During a conference call hosted by the Every Child Matters Education Fund, Michael Petit, founder of Every Child Matters, says that within the U.S. alone, wide gaps in child well-being exist. Compared to the best states, Petit says that children from the bottom ranked states are 3 times as likely to die before their 14th birthday.
