Dear Terry,
first the short version, in case you don't like to read too much;
The oil under ANWR is like a spit in the face of a thirsty man.
Like a drop of water on a hot iron.
Like the brain of the 30% still supporting Bush;
USELESS

Still hungry for knowledge? Read on;

Please do the math yourself and tell me if it's really worth it;

22-05-08 "The US Energy Information Administration said the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- which is currently off-limits to drilling -- would likely produce 2.6 bn barrels of oil between 2018 and 2030 if it were allowed to be produced.
The start date of 2018 was set on the assumption that a law would be passed this year opening up the refuge. The report said production would start to decline after 2030. The refuge would produce 780,000 bpd in 2027, declining to 710,000 bpd in 2030, according to the agency’s mean projection.

Opening the area would cut the price of oil by 75 cents a barrel around 2020 to 2025, according to the mean estimate."

>>>>>> 75 CENTS (off USD 140.-) in ~15 years.
They didn't tell you THAT did they?

And then on June 23rd, your buddy said the following;
"I don't see an immediate relief, but I do see that exploitation of existing reserves that may exist -- and in view of many experts that do exist off our coasts -- is also a way that we need to provide relief. Even though it may take some years, the fact that we are exploiting those reserves would have psychological impact that I think is beneficial."

That's all their looking for, a "psychological" impact. Don't you see the right is playing you for suckers? How many times more do they have to screw you over before you open your eyes?

Obama would crush the economy??? Which economy? The one Clinton resurrected and Bush destroyed in the last few years?

"I don't know if getting shot down and imprisoned by the enemy qualifies you to be president" Most obvious analysys, ever! And you question good men like General Clark in favour of an idiot with a medal. If you wouldn't have nuclear bombs, the world would have shut you up a long time ago.

Hal:

Everyone is considering conservation, like it or not. There's even a very aggressive fleet gas mileage target in the works. However, we can no longer afford the status quo on energy production. Oil prices drive too much of the economy. America has vast oil reserves that there's no good reason to leave in the ground. Let's drill it, and stop shipping so much money to regimes and countries that hate us and our way of life.

Obama IS the enemy in many regards. He is in no way qualified to be President. His policies are guaranteed to crush the economy. He would definitely weaken the military. His stance on energy is that YOU don't deserve to keep your house at 72 degrees because it's not fair to the rest of the world. Vote for him at your peril.

McCain '08! HE SUCKS LESS!

Oh, okay. The republicans won't consider conservation even though we're ALL driving a lot slower and a lot less, without help from the republicans who tell us everything is great and the economy is roaring.
Nobody remembers Three-Mile Island and that's why nucular power is all clean and nice and the answer to Boner's prayers. Rrrriiiight.
And Obama is the enemy. Right.
