We can actually mitigate global warming in a way that helps national security across the board, while saving on energy costs. Right now most of our energy comes from big power plants suscepitble to terrorist attack. These plants are also highly inefficient (and thus dirty) but are given protected monopoly status by the government. If we had more decentralized energy -- cogeneration, energy recycling, etc., with small plants more spread out -- we'd cut greenhouse gases and energy costs while improving security. I'm associated with Recycled Energy Development, a company that does precisely this. Normally companies just want to improve the bottom line, but the security argument is a perfectly good reason to promote it.
