Rep. Perlmutter (D-Colo.) says the free market is not always right, and regulation is not a dirty word
Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) says that currently there is a “march forward for oversight and regulation” in the financial markets, and that the free market is not always right. He says there needs to be a balance between regulation and free enterprise for the whole system to work. (0:50)

We don’t have a free market. How can any rational individual blame our problems on the free market that doesn’t exist? The free market was rejected in 1913 with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act. How about we get rid of the institution creating all this inflation and volatile boom bust business cycle? The Federal Reserve is the culprit, not the nonexistant free market.
