At a press conference, Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Russell Feingold(D-WI), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) announce they will ask Solicitor General Paul Clement to appoint an independent special counsel from outside the Department of Justice to investigate perjury in testimonies given by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
