Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) takes light-hearted shots at Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) before the Republican National Association of Lawyers.

Posted by Staff on March 30, 2007 |

Sen. Specter recounts the story of when he was chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and hearing the nominations for Justice Alito. He jokes that when Sen. Kennedy became impatient, he asked why Sen. Kennedy hadn’t said anything to him before at the gym. But, to much laughter, Sen. Spector deadpans, "Sen. Kennedy hasn’t been to the gym since the Johnson Administration…that’s the Andrew Johnson Administration." (0:52)
