A modest medical capability was set up to great the evacuees in Cyprus, but there are no reports of serious medical conditions beside fatigue.

Whitman refused to talk about threats to US vessels as a matter of intelligence, though he did say that evacuation missions are conducted during the day-light hours.

When asked about the complaints about the State Departments slow response, Whitman says that now is not the time to play the blame game. The DOD will fulfill the State Department orders to ensure a safe, orderly, organized and disciplined evacuation operation.
