At an Environmental and Energy Study Institute briefing, Larry Shirley, Director of North Carolina State Energy Office, talks about the energy benefits of biomass.
Shirley says that biomass offers an important energy solution for the United States. In fact, he says that North Carolina alone could produce up to 1,800 to 2,000 megawatts of energy, representing 5 to 10 percent of the state’s petroleum consumption (:34).
