At a Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing, Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) says that oil companies are not using their profits to benefit the American people.

Dorgan says that Exxon-Mobil made $36.1 billion in profits and about a third of that money is being used to buy back their own stock and "drill for oil" in Wall Street, which means they are looking for more mergers and consolidation. Therefore, Dorgan says that the oil companies’ high profits are not benefiting the consumer at all (:48).
