At a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on "Immigration Economic Impacts", Barry Chiswick, Professor in Department of Economics at the University of Illinois, says that immigrants compete with low-wage American workers.

Chiswick says that while the United States should continue to seek highly educated immigrant workers, Congress also needs to protect low-wage American workers by reducing the competition from illegal immigration, and improving the enforcement of immigration law (0:51).
