Victoria Jones asks Frances Townsend, Assistant to the President on Homeland Security, if the Department of Homeland Security, under Secretary Michael Chertoff, can complete proposed improvements laid out in the Lessons Learned report regarding Hurricane Katrina by June 1st at a White House press briefing.

Townsend says Chertoff, who played a large role in identifying the shortfalls in coming to the 125 recommendations, has the confidence of President Bush and that the top priorities for the beginning of hurricane season are integrating command at the field level and improving communications capabilities.
