Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) questions Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer about the Central Intelligence Agency’s position on the Able Danger program during a during a joint House subcommittee hearing on the Department of Defense program.
Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer confirms Weldon’s assertion that the CIA did not want to cooperate with the Able Danger program because it did not want another department to outperform the CIA. Shaffer and Weldon contend that the Able Danger program correctly identified Mohammed Atta, a September 11 hijacker, before the attacks and predicted the attack on the USS Cole. ( :35)
