The Senate Democratic Policy Committee holds a hearing on the record high gasoline prices and what Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND), refers to as "windfall oil company profits."

Dorgan states that the excess oil prices are due to a triumvirate of OPEC countries, big oil companies, and a futures market plagued with rampant speculation. According to Dorgan, these three things "clog the marketplace of free enterprise."(0:58)
