Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers briefs Pentagon press on DOD’s role in assisting DHS with Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.
Anticipating questions on the federal response to hurricane victims, Rumsfeld reminds the press corps that state and local governments had the responsibility of being first responders. As Katrina victimized many first responders, federal forces were called in to respond to the situation. (1:32)
