Expert on Saudi Arabia and author Thomas Lippman states at the "Abdullah’s Kingdom: Saudi Arabia After King Fahd" press conference, that King Fahd left behind a mixed legacy in Saudi Arabia.
Lippman says that one of the biggest mistakes that King Fahd made was getting involved with the first Gulf Iraq war. Ultimately the United States would have some forces station in Saudi Arabia, rendering Fahd’s contributions unnecessary. (1:36)
