Dr. Jack Calfee, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, says there is no indication that direct-to-consumer advertising, or DTC, impacts prescription drug prices.

In general, Calfee says, advertising tends to drive prices down. He states that restricting DTC ads would not have a significant impact on drug cost, but that more research should be done. (:57)
