At a news conference to release the results of a major report on education reform, Phillip D. Murphy, senior director of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., offers four crucial recommendations he feels the public education system needs to enact in order to revitalize public education.

Murphy argues that more "community schools" are needed. Community schools would involve social services, and offering early screening for developmental challenges, promote home visits and support for struggling families and encourage greater parental involvement in their child’s education.
