Sen. Richard G. Lugar (R-IN), in a lighter moment of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, jokes about his personal interest in free trade with the Honorable Josette S. Shiner, nominee to be Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business & Agricultural Affairs
After being outed as an Indiana corn and soy bean farmer by Shiner, Lugar admits that he has credence over many of his fellow Senators due to his personal relationship with the workings of farmers. He claims that other Senators are merely advocates for some cause or another. He states that as a farmer, he strongly advocates the passage of free trade agreements. (0:43)
