Joshua Bolten, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, gives three ways in which the government is restraining its spending in a responsible way; focusing on priority, principle, and performance. Three main issues are being questioned. First, does the program meet the nation’s priorities? Second, does the program meet the President’s principles of taxpayers’ resources? Lastly, does the program produce the intended results? By focusing on priorities and by maintaining pro-growth economic policies, progress is being made in bringing down the deficit in 2006 and beyond. (1:08)
