White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan talks about how the Iraqi elections are important for democracy in the region and for the Palestinian people.

McClellan says this is a hopeful period and a historic opportunity we need to seize. The President wants to see continue progress in the region and he will therefore send Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to attend a conference focusing on building up democratic institutions for the Palestinian people.
