Senate Minority Leader Reid said that it is important for the United States to extend a helping hand to underdeveloped nations as it is important for our own security that the citizens of those nations do not spite us and see us as a friend. Reid recalled the lessons learned by Franklin Roosevelt during the Second World War: that our own happiness depends on the happiness of others. (:58)
