White House Gaggle

The President’s Schedule:

The President continued to receive short congratulatory phone calls from
the leaders of the Philippines, Singapore, Portugal, and Jordan. The
President received his daily National Security Meeting in the morning, and

will attend the weekly meeting with his Secretary of State later today.
The President will receive the Secretary General of NATO this afternoon,
and will be meeting with American Muslim leaders at the White House Iftar
Dinner this evening. Scott McClellan will hold a briefing today at
12:30pm.

Attorney General John Ashcroft:

The President accepted Ashcroft’s resignation earlier this week. McClellan
said that the President set no deadline for cabinet members to decide on
their possible resignation.

Yasser Arafat:

The White House does not find it appropriate to comment on his situation
at this time.

Iran:

The President will continue to pressure the country to halt its nuclear
programs, and will take the proper steps with the international community
to ensure it happens.

Fallujah:

McClellan agrees with US Generals and Prime Minister Allawi that the
operation is going well. McClellan will leave the all announcements and
developments in the battle to the US Generals on the ground, and will not
speculate on the ramifications of the battle.
