White House Gaggle

President’s Schedule

The President attended his usual briefings this morning. Later this
morning he will be meeting with six governors who recently returned from
Iraq. He will then have lunch with Vice President Cheney. The President

will also participate in a conversation about parental options on school
choice. This afternoon he will give a radio address about the
proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

NASCAR

At 3:00 pm, NASCAR’s Michael Waltrip will be on "Ask the White House."
Questions were raised as to why someone outside the administration would
be on "Ask the White House," McClellan said that there are a variety of
people on the show, and that "some are from the administration, some
outside the administration." Michael Waltrip was asked to attend because
the Daytona 500 will be held on Sunday.

National Guard

McClellan insisted that the President’s records show he was in attendance
in Alabama and Texas. McClellan was then questioned as to whether the
president had to do community service while in the National Guard.
McClellan responded that this question had nothing to do with whether the
President served in the National Guard. When pressed to answer the
question he said, "I am not going to engage in these kinds of politics."
He also insisted the issue was addressed four years ago.

David Kay

In an interview with the Assoicated Press, David Kay said President Bush should not be afraid to admit he was wrong about Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). McClellan’s response was to refer to the President’s statements from Sunday’s "Meet the Press." The President said he had expected to find WMDs and that he intends investigate possible intelligence gaps. McClellan also pointed out that Kay has said that Iraq is a threat and was in clear violation of UN resolution 1441.

Week Ahead

On Sunday, the President will attend the Daytona 500. He will start the
race with the line: "Gentlemen start your engines." On Monday he will
give a speech on the economy at the New Air Manufacturing Plant in Tampa,
Florida. Tuesday he will address soldiers at Fort Polk, Louisiana. On
Friday, he will attend a State dinner with the Governors of the Nation.
